Classical Martial Arts of Long Island
For Ages 3 & Up
At Classical Martial Arts of Long Island, our goal is to utilize martial arts to focus on your child’s individual needs. Our Special Needs Program provides the structure that children with special needs require to excel. Our classes create a sense of familiarity and consistency that produces clear results, including improved focus and concentration, better balance and spatial awareness, and reduced anxiety.
This class is designed for students with challenges such as Autism Spectrum Disorder, including Asperger’s Syndrome, and Pervasive Developmental Disorder, and severe Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. The class uses martial arts approaches to build neuro-cognitive competencies in proprioceptive response as well as sequential and hierarchical task assignment abstraction response. Dr. Jackowicz has used his medical background in conjunction with his martial arts background to design a curriculum for the Special Needs community which uses safe, enjoyable exercise to bring benefits to the students’ health and well-being.
For students with greater physical impairment, we suggest a personalized approach. Please contact us for a consultation and we can discuss designing a private study curriculum to support the student. We take great care to do our best to support the overall development of every student. We would like to discuss the possibilities our approach can bring to your child.
